✅ When and How to Fast
Duration: Minimum 8 to 12 hours of fasting required before giving blood.
Allowed during fasting:
✅ Plain water only (no lemon, salt, or other additives).
❌ No tea, coffee, coconut water, or juice.
❌ No food, sugar, or milk-based drinks.
Do not take any medicine (unless approved by the doctor or instructed otherwise).
Morning tests are best: Schedule your blood draw in the early morning (7–9 AM) for accurate hormonal and metabolic readings.
📋 Before You Come for Testing
- Have your UHID number or registration slip with you.
- Sleep well the night before — poor sleep may affect results like cortisol and insulin.
- If you're doing a follow-up test, follow the same fasting routine as the first test to ensure consistency.
🔬 Why Fasting Is So Important
আপনি যদি ঠিকভাবে ফাস্টিং না করেন, রিপোর্ট সঠিক আসবে না — ফলে চিকিৎসাও সঠিক হবে না।”
— Dr. Jahangir Kabir
Fasting helps evaluate:
- Blood sugar (FBS, Insulin, HbA1c)
- Liver & kidney function
- Lipid profile (cholesterol, triglycerides)
- Hormone levels (like cortisol, TSH, LH, etc.)
- Vitamin levels (D, B12) and other essential markers
